Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

A bunch of new Mega Bloks products have hit our shelves this week.

Mega Bloks are basically gigantic building pieces, and there are some cool variations of it now. They make them for Cars, Ni-hao Kai-lan, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. This comes on the heels of the successful Halo Wars Mega Bloks.

This is another sure to be favorite toy of of the upcoming holiday season. There’s limited quality, so keep your eyes on this great product!

UFC!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Lots of big happenings this week in the world of UFC.

To start the week, Rampage Jackson retired to focus on his career as an actor. He has already landed his first major role as B.A. Baracus, the role made famous by Mr. T.

Jackson basically said no thanks to the life of luxury, as well as the complete trust of the organization. Dana White is not stupid and yet he trusted Jackson, bailing him out of jail and making him one of the coaches on the newest season of the Ultimate Fighter.

When he received news of Jackson’s “retirement,” he somewhat took the high road and didn’t completely bash Jackson. However, there were a few snide comments and he seemed generally unhappy.

Later in the week, White announced that Kimbo Slice would become a member of the UFC, whether or not he wins the Ultimate Fighter. That’s a huge swing, as Dana White once said that Slice would never fight in the UFC.

Is Dana White mellowing, or is he just doing what he can to keep his product in the limelight? Maybe he’s gearing up for an acting career of his own..

Halloween is fast approaching. The leaves are starting to change, it’s colder at night and there are those fly by night Halloween stores popping up all over the place.

It seems like nowadays there are lots more choices of what to dress up as for the mother of all holidays.

Toywiz has a great costume section, so check it out! The sooner you check it out, the better chance of getting your favorite costume!

Maxus Helios

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Maxus Helios has joined the Maxus Dragonoid as the super combiners in the world of Bakugan.

Maxus Helios, just like Maxus Dragonoid, is the combination of 7 different Bakugan to make a super power that is all-powerful! It comes in a cool silver color, so in addition to being awesome, it looks awesome too!

Will they come out with other colors? Other versions? Who knows!?

Avatar

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Although Avatar is hitting theatres in December, the first toys are starting to ship.

We have gotten the first wave of toys in, and they look pretty solid. While the movie itself doesn’t look like anything special, the toys themselves look good.

Right now, we have the first deluxe figures and more are sure to come. Come Christmas time, when the movie has been released and rumor mills are in full swing, they will be hard to come by.

NHL 22!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

NHL 22 is now available at Toywiz!

NHL 22 is a very interesting set. While it has some of the better players in the league, it also includes some of the players that are on the fringe, and those that changed teams since McFarlane announced the set.

The biggest head scratcher for me is why they included Saku Koivu in the set, after his better years have passed.

While only a few years ago he was one of the best centers in the NHL, he is now at best a second tier player. What makes it even more interesting is that he switched teams in the off-season, something that any pedestrian hockey fan saw coming.

The addition of Mats Sundin was also a curious one. Mats Sundin is, to say the least, the Brett Favre of the National Hockey League.

Every off-season is filled with “will he or won’t he” talk and currently he is not signed to any team. He is depicted in a Vancouver Canucks jersey, a team he only spent about 3 months with last season.

I do like the addition of Daryl Sittler to the set. While I am not a hockey historian, it’s always nice to see a throwback player mixed in with current players.

Sittler is most famous for his 10 point game, which is a record that stands until this day.

Always nice is the addition of Alex Ovechkin and Miika Kipprusoff to the set. While Ovechkin is very quickly being played out in McFarlane sets.

I have always been of the mind that Kiprusoff has not really received his due in the NHL due to the fact that he plays for the Flames, a team that is rarely consistent.

All things said, it’s a set that is work checking out.
